The Hagia Sophia, Bosporus and the Golden Bridge. Bazaars and baths. However, there are some other great things not to miss - or not to oversee - in Istanbul I was not aware of until I came to this amazing city and joined in its whirling life.

After hours of driving through Eastern Anatolia towards the Armenian border, the landscape was still the same: wide plains occupied with agriculture. There was hay everywhere: either being cut, collected by tractors or lying around. People were busy with harvesting and the tractors were driving back and forth in the fields. It looked like Pol Pot’s dream — turning everybody into a peasant.

By the time darkness fell, we still hadn't managed to find a suitable place for our camp, but there had hardly been any such place on the whole way from Cappadocia to the north of Turkey. The landscape still looked the same – slopes with little trees, houses in small groups – mostly new 5 to 10-storey buildings. The sameness of the landscape probably added some fuel to my sickness caused by the long drive toward the Georgian border.
